Let your customers know that you possess the high degree of knowledge that it takes to become certified by the International Society of Arboriculture.
 This course is designed to prepare industry professionals for the ISA Certified Arborist exam or as a review if for those already certified. It will cover all 16 chapters in the Arborists’ Certification Study Guide. 
 Instructors are local professionals in the field of arboriculture and urban forestry.

Exam Preparation Course

Course Eligibility
​Anyone is eligible to take this course. You don't have to take the exam or be eligible to take it to take the course.

​You must qualify and register with ISA to take the exam (see eligibility requirements for the exam below).
Course Schedule
Week 1: Tree Biology, Tree Identification    
Week 2: Soil Science, Pruning    
Week 3: Water Management, Tree Selection   
Week 4: Installation and Establishment, Tree Nutrition and Fertilizer  
Week 5: Tree Support and Lightning Protection, Urban Forestry
Week 6: Diagnosis of Plant Disorders, Plant Healthcare         
Week 7: Tree Assessment and Risk Management, Trees and Construction
​Week 8: Tree Worker Safety, Climbing and Working in Trees       
Week 9: EXAM  
Study Guide
​ISA’s Arborists’ Certification Study Guide is the program material covered in this course. Students are responsible for ordering their own copy through the ISA. Discounts are available for ISA members.

Exam Eligibility & Registration

Do you meet the eligibility requirements to take the ISA’s Certified Arborist Exam?
            To be eligible you must be able to prove:
  • Three years of full-time experience in arboriculture
  • Two years of full-time experience and a two-year degree in a related field with two courses directly related to arboriculture
  • One year of full-time experience and a four-year degree in a related field with four classes directly related to arboriculture.
  • 900 hours of an assessment–based certificate program with a minimum focus of 90 hours directly related to arboriculture plus two years of full-time practical experience in arboriculture
  • 1800 hours of an assessment-base certificate program with a minim focus of 180 hours directly related to arboriculture plus one year of full-time practical experience in arboriculture

​Exam registration is separate from this course registration.  The cost of this course does not include the ISA’s exam fee. Students must register and pay for the exam through the ISA.
