The inspiration for this course is Ken Menzer. Ken was a Community Forester for the Sacramento Tree Foundation and he grew shade trees that were distributed for the Community Shade program. He also worked for the City of Folsom for 11 years. As their City Arborist Ken assisted the residents of Folsom with trees, organized numerous volunteer tree plantings and hosted the annual Arborists Breakfast that brought tree care professionals from all over the metropolitan area for a day of continuing education.
As the City Arborist in Folsom, Ken always encouraged tree care professionals to increase their skills, to become certified and he was always willing to meet with them and give them the benefit of his expertise. Educate and elevate was his motto. All profits from this course will be donated to further education in Urban Forestry.
For Ken’s last five years he bravely battled non-hodgkins lymphoma.
